Ask enConnected: Black Friday Deals & Why You Use Xbox Music

If you stand outside and take a deep breath you can smell it in the air. No, it’s not sludge, or greenhouse gases or the ridiculously overwhelming scent of a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. No, it’s the holidays, and to quote Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, “Christmas is coming, it’s practically here.” Of Course, that also means Black Friday is here too.

Remember when video gaming used to be simple? Remember when listening to music on your Xbox One didn’t involve having to snap a media player to the side of your screen before you open a game? Remember when Windows had a desktop and didn’t have a built-in video store?

Ask enConnected: Xbox and Windows Phone, Xbox One & Pricing

How much people are dedicated to the things they purchase has always been interesting. When someone has paid their own hard-earned money for something – anything really – they become flip sides of the same coin. There are the users who’ve spent their money on something and loved it, and tell other people they love it too. Then there are the people who feel cheated; the people who know deep down that they’ve just been ripped off.

You’d have thought that this month’s Ask enConnected would be full of questions about new software upgrades for the Xbox One and new games for the Xbox 360. Nothing could be further from the truth, mostly because Microsoft didn’t talk much about either topic during its E3 2014 Xbox Media Briefing earlier this month. Ask enConnected for March 2014: Are Xbox Music and Titanfall worth the hype?

Things have changed in the time since we brought you the last edition of Ask enConnected. Microsoft’s ecosystem is almost completely different. The Xbox One is now on store shelves and users are flocking to Titanfall, its first big launch, in droves. Xbox Music, Microsoft’s replacement for Zune, is now available on just about anything that isn’t a BlackBerry device. Even Windows Phone, is at the cusp of another software launch. As such, we thought that we’d receive a lot of questions about those topics for the first edition of the New Year, and you guys didn’t disappoint.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen! The future of gaming and living room entertainment is upon us. No longer will we suffer the oppression of a cruel dictator that does not allow us to multitask, download retail titles without having to set a foot in GameStop and not detect our heartbeats using an advanced Kinect 2 sensor that is straight out of an episode of Star Trek: Voyager.
