You would have thought any technology company would be playing it pretty calm this close to the holidays, heck we’ve already sort of mentally checked out until after we’ve unwrapped a few presents next week. Fortunately for those customers who might be unwrapping one of their Xbox 360s, Microsoft just dumped even more entertainment choices in their laps.
Over the next twenty-four hours Microsoft will launch new applications for a boat load of new entertainment providers on Xbox LIVE including a lineup of anime shows via Crunchyroll, the latest news and entertainment gossip via AOL On, video social networking via Vimeo, and a treasure trove of independent films via SnagFilms, here in the United States.
Those who aren’t subject to the Bill Of Rights will also find a little something in their stocking as well. Mexico users will see the launch of Televisa and Azteca while Viaplay will assist users in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden with getting their television fix on demand. Additionally those in Australia and New Zealand will finally have access to IGN on Xbox LIVE.
These coupled with the slate of entertainment apps launched just last week make this one of the biggest months for entertainment the fledging app platform has seen since it first began offering 3rd party content in this form late last year.
As with all applications with the exception of Xbox Video, those who would like to take advantage of these offerings will need an Xbox LIVE Gold account.
