Windows 8.1 coming to the rescue on October 18th

Windows 8.1

Users who have been waiting to get their hands on a final version of the Windows 8.1 update, won’t have to wait too long. Microsoft has confirmed that it’ll begin deploying the update on October 17th.

Microsoft’s Brandon Leblanc announced the date on the Blogging Windowsite this morning. Users will be able to download the update for free from the Windows Store and get all of the benefits that the first update to come out of Microsoft’s faster development cycle for Windows has to offer. That includes the ability to customize the Start Screen with wallpaper and different Live Tile sizes, integrated Bing searches, and more.

The update will also ship with revamped versions of nearly all of the apps included with Windows 8 including Xbox Music and Xbox Video.
