Xbox 360 and Xbox One users wishing they could play games with other Xbox Live users or watch videos through Netflix or Hulu Plus should get excited. Microsoft says it’s temporarily granting all Xbox Live users the benefits of Xbox Live Gold this weekend.
To be clear, whether users will be able to take advantage of the lowered pricing that Xbox Live Gold users receive in each week’s Xbox Live Gold Deal of the Week remains unclear, however the free Xbox Live Gold Weekend does mean that anyone can play games online, use Video Kinect and Skype or stream from video services they already have subscriptions to without having to shell out for Xbox Live. An Xbox Live Gold account costs users $9.99 a month.
Microsoft says that the Free Xbox Live Gold Weekend begins at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday until just before Midnight Pacific Time on Monday in the United States and Canada.
