You read that headline right, according to one independent game designer, video games, those things the entertainment industry has insisted are taken on all the cache’ of high art, are in fact, not art at all.
Independent video game maker Eric Zimmerman penned a piece for video games website Polygon in which he declares in no uncertain terms that video games like Halo and Destiny — even Tribeca Film Festival participant L.A. Noire — aren’t art. He backs his claims up with a point by point breakdown of what he actually considers are to be.
The opinion piece is certainly a good read, no matter what side of the aisle you’re on.
