Xbox One and Xbox 360 users who have yet to experience the world of Destiny for themselves now have very few reasons left to do so. Earlier today, Destiny developer Bungee and publisher Activision announced two new crucial experiences. The first is a Destiny Trial that’ll be available on the Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4. The other is a Destiny Demo that’ll be available to owners of the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Gamers on all four compatible machines will be able to download the free versions of Destiny for their console beginning today. Once installed they’ll get a small sampling of the first-person shooter and online multiplayer game. Xbox 360 and Xbox One users can download their trial and demo from the Xbox Store now. To be clear, users aren’t getting the entire game for free, just a taste of what it has to offer. Those who don’t like the game aren’t out anything except for time. Those who do like the game can purchase a full copy of Destiny online or in store and keep the characters they created in the trial or demo. As long as its to a system of the same brand.
Unfortunately, it isn’t all good news though. Microsoft routinely sells Xbox 360 consoles that don’t include internal storage and that’s going to be a problem for Destiny. Owners of the Xbox 360 Arcade, Xbox 360 4GB and Xbox 360 Core won’t be able to download the demo since they lack internal hard drives. According to Bungee, flash storage won’t help these consoles either.
