That silence is the sound of millions of users are flocking to Microsoft’s Xbox Music service to save big on the latest albums from Janelle Monae, Jason Derulo, Trey Songs and Charli XCX.
For the next six days Xbox Music users on Windows and Windows Phone can download Charli XCX’s Sucker for $.99. No, you aren’t reading that wrong. The album seriously is a single penny shy of a buck. Filed away in its Must-Have R&B albums line-up are Talk Dirty by Jason Derulo, Trigga by Trey Songz, The Electric Lady by Janelle Monae, Unorthodox Jukebox by Bruno Mars and Sex Playlist from Omarion. All of these entire albums is just $1.99 a piece. Additionally, Microsoft is throwing in copies of Everybody Knows This is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse — whoever those guys are — Heartaches & Highways by Emmylou Harris, Autohhn by Kraftwrk, Look-KA Py Py by The Meters and Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool. Those five albums are also $1.99, which is a lot less than it costs to buy a ticket from Paris to Tokyo.
Unless you like searching for each individual album you’ll need a Windows Phone or Windows 8 device loaded with the Music Deals app to easily track them down. Even if you don’t have the app, just typing each name into the search field in Xbox Music will link you to them. We’d drop some links to them here but Microsoft doesn’t allow users to purchase albums and songs from Xbox Music through its website, iOS, Xbox or Android clients.
Even though they aren’t fully discounted, don’t hesitate to check out The Pinkprint from Nicki Minaj, D’Angelo’s Black Messiah and I LOVE MAKONNEN’s self-tilted debut album. You couldn’t pay us to listen to anything other than Black Messiah on repeat at this point, but they also made their début in Xbox Music this week.
We’ve adjusted the title for clarity. Only Charli XCX’s album is on sale for $.99.
