The holiday countdown clock hasn’t hit zero yet, but already some retailers are offering up deals on Microsoft’s Xbox One as if it were a denim Santa hat at Kohl’s the day after Christmas. Take the deal Target is running through Saturday online and in-store. Purchasing a $349 Xbox gets Target shoppers a $70 gift card.
As of right now Target is still offering the deal on its website and its not exclusive to the online store. Target offers in store pick-up for shoppers who make their purchases through its website. Target gift cards can be used to purchase almost anything in the store, except other gift cards. Roughly, Target shoppers are getting an Xbox One without a Kinect sensor for $279 once they’ve claimed that gift card and use it for something extra. Of course, you don’t get the gift card until you actually purchase the Xbox One, so you can’t use it for even more savings on the console itself. Accessories and a subscription to Xbox Live is fair game though.
For comparison, anyone who purchased an Xbox One at launch spent at least $499 plus the cost of a game. Both of the bundles that Target is selling with the gift cards are the consoles that come with free copies of Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
Separately, Amazon is offering $50 in credit when shoppers at its side purchase any Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle.
