Microsoft is showing owners of its Xbox 360 gaming and entertainment console some love this weekend. Through Monday anyone with an Xbox 360 and internet access can play online with their friends absolutely free.
Microsoft’s Larry Hyrb announced Xbox 360 Free Multiplayer Weekend in a post on his MajorNelson blog this morning. Microsoft is completely unlocking multiplayer, meaning anyone who doesn’t have Xbox Live Gold can make use of the multiplayer modes in games like Titanfall, Call of Duty and more. Microsoft says it’s not limiting Xbox 360 Free Multiplayer Weekend to a single country either. Instead, it’s unlocking Xbox Live multiplayer for anyone with an Xbox 360 and Xbox Live available in their country.
Xbox 360 Free Multiplayer Weekend wraps up on Monday, May 4th. At the stroke of midnight Pacific Time Microsoft’s requirement that Xbox 360 users have Xbox Live Gold to play with their friends returns. Xbox Live Gold costs users $9.99 a month or $60 a year and includes two game downloads a month at no additional cost.
