Microsoft’s Xbox One entertainment console is getting two very exciting, very much appreciated dedicated apps. Early last week TuneIn for Xbox One and PBS Kids Video for Xbox One finally arrived in the Xbox Store.
As of right now, anyone and everyone with an Xbox One console and an internet connection can download the TuneIn and PBS Kids Video to their console. Both apps are completely free of charge. TuneIn is a dedicated audio player that lets users stream podcasts and live traditional radio stations over the internet. Previously you had to log into TuneIn’s web application through Internet Explorer to get livestreaming radio from its partners on the Xbox One. Stations preferences sync using a TuneIn account.
There’s no dedicated TuneIn experience on the Xbox 360. PBS Kids Video lets Xbox One owners watch streaming video of the PBS’ popular children’s programming. It comes equipped with built-in parental controls for monitoring what your kids watch. Xbox apps no longer require that users be subscribed to Xbox Live for use. TuneIn was among the huge slate of apps Microsoft revealed for the Xbox One last year. PBS Kids is already available on the Xbox 360. TuneIn isn’t not available on Microsoft’s last generation console.
