If you were hoping that Microsoft would tuck some improvements into an Xbox One Update and leave some trinkets for those testing the waters with Xbox on Windows, you’re in for a treat. This morning Microsoft confirmed that February Xbox One Update it announced last month is rolling out. Furthermore, it’s updating Xbox on Windows.
The return of the Gamerscore Leaderboard and auto-updating Activity Feed are just a few of the features that await users inside the February Xbox One Update. Microsoft began letting members of the Xbox Preview Program test the update in late January. Also tucked into the update are better friend suggestions, a link in the store to scanning QR codes and the ability to hide games in the My Games & Apps menu. Microsoft has also added the ability to assign specific actions to the Xbox One ChatPad that was released last fall.
The Xbox on Windows Experience now has Compact Mode for snapping to the side of a game. This new mode offers access to all the important features that Xbox on Windows offers: messaging, Party management and Friends viewing.
All Xbox One consoles with Always Connected power mode on will have the update installed automatically, when it is available. Users who’ve disabled it will get prompted to install the update before connecting to Xbox Live soon enough. Windows 10, the only operating system that supports Xbox on Windows, gets app updates automatically.
