Put down your copies of Madden 18 and look away from that new Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay arriving tomorrow. In these, the last moments of the summer gaming lull, join me in going back to an old love that you’ve forgotten about.

A question from Kyle, a friend of mine from Twitter, is to blame for my revived interest in visiting Dragon Age Inquisition. We were discussing our backlogs, and I declared I didn’t have one. Turns out, I’ve got three DLC packs that I’ve barely gotten through for this game. What’s odd is I’ve had them for as long as Jim Acosta has taken shots from the White House for being “fake news.”

I came to Dragon Age Inquisition years after everyone else, and I waited months for Electronic Arts to put it on sale. Sure, I reviewed it, but after that I forgot to play again and put that DLC to actual use. And if you know me, you know I hate wasting money.

So, I know the fresh plastic smell that wafts from a newly opened game is alluring, but hear me out. If you’ve got a backlog, play it. There could be see some gems in there you’re forgetting all about. Like me, you could find yourself asking yourself questions like “What the hell was I thinking giving my character white hair? Also, how does fake me have better fashion sense than real me?”

Trav in Real Life is a collection of random musings.
