Gamers who pay for Xbox LIVE Gold on the Xbox 360 will continue receiving two free games a month as part of Xbox LIVE Games with Gold.
Microsoft confirmed that it is making the promotion permanent for Xbox LIVE users on a post at Xbox Wire early this morning. According to Microsoft, it has seen more than 120 million hours of game generated Games With Gold.
The company announced the new perk for Xbox LIVE subscribers during its presentation at the Electronic Entertainment Expo earlier this year. Users who pay for Xbox LIVE Gold get two free games per month. The games given out to users aren’t particularly small titles either. For example, this month the company is letting users download a copy of Halo 3.
Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Microsoft will be extending the promotion to new Xbox One users. Today’s statement carefully notes that the new permanent perk is specific to the Xbox 360.
