Microsoft says it has plans to expedite the returns of users who received malfunctioning Xbox One consoles on launch day.
“We know that with a hardware launch of this magnitude customers will have questions and we have many avenues for customers to get the answers they need and get back in the game as soon as possible. Rest assured we plan to take care of our customers.”
The proclamation came as part of a statement sent to Polygon after the outlet reported that a number of users had received Xbox Ones that contained faulty Blu-ray drives that left them unable to play the retail titles they’d purchased on launch day. YouTube videos recorded by users with these consoles surfaced on YouTube shortly after the Xbox One’s launch on Friday. They include everything from an audible clicking sound when inserting a game to what can only be described as a loud whirring sound like a disc is being scratched inside the console.
Users are encouraged to contact the console’s hardware support numbers at the Xbox Support account on Twitter assistance if they think their Xbox One has a hardware defect.
