The Xbox One, Microsoft’s next-generation entertainment console, appears to have topped sales of Sony’s PlayStation 4 for the month of December. Well, at least in the United States.
Microsoft formally announced the NPD Group’s findings in a post on Xbox Wire this afternoon. According to those numbers, the company managed to sell 908,000 Xbox One consoles in December — the most of any console during that same month. That’s great news for Microsoft, who took a beating in the press after Sony announced that it’d managed to move 1 million more PlayStation 4s than Microsoft moved Xbox Ones in the 2013.
The report is also comes with some good news for the Xbox 360. The now last-generation entertainment console and Xbox One predecessor landed in 643,000 homes during the month of December. Those sales were enough for it to claim the number 3 highest-selling console in terms of sales for the month of December.
The report also notes that Xbox One titles held six of the 10 ten best-selling game spots during the month of December.
