Forget downloading one-off independently developed titles for the Xbox One and Xbox 360, Microsoft is pulling out all the stops as it hopes to boost the profile of its Xbox Live Games with Gold promotion. As of now both Rayman Legends and Tomb Raider are available at no additional cost thanks to Games with Gold.
Microsoft announced the Games With Gold titles last week on its Xbox Wire news blog, but the titles didn’t actually become available until this past Sunday. For the entire month of March anyone with an Xbox One console can download Rayman Legends from the Xbox Store for free, provided they have an Xbox Live Gold account. Rayman Legends joins IDARB, a game that was available for free through the program last month. Games with Gold titles for the Xbox One work as long as users stay subscribed to Xbox Live Gold.
Xbox 360 users are getting two completely new games for free through the Games with Gold promotion. Tomb Raider, the full-on reboot of the long-running franchise from game developer Crystal Dynamics, is available to Xbox Live Gold users until March 15th for free. After that, Bioshock Infinite will take its place. Games With Gold titles for the Xbox 360 are user’s to keep forever.
Xbox Live Gold costs $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Together, Microsoft is giving Xbox Live Gold users $90 in digital games during the month of March.
