Small fixes focus of April Xbox One Update

Microsoft is keeping it mostly low-key with the April Xbox One Update. At least, that’s if you’re only judging the first part of what the company promises will be a two-part adventure.

Major Nelson announced the April Xbox One Update, which is now rolling out to members of the Xbox One Preview Program, this past weekend. The April Xbox One Update includes new troubleshooting tips for the Party app that lets Xbox One owners voice chat and play games with each other. Beyond the troubleshooting tips, there are toggles for letting users quickly change privacy settings if they’re standing in the way of getting into a party.

In a recent Xbox One Update Microsoft added Game Hubs. Game Hubs are brilliant because they let users closely follow the titles they’re interested in. They are the one place where users can find out about new downloadable content, monitor leaderboards, view screenshots and check on earned achievements. Game Hubs now surface in the Activity Feed, making them infinitely easier to find. Game Hubs are also reachable from the independent Achievements app with the April Xbox One Update too.

Speaking of Achievements, notifications for Achievements now surface information about how they were earned. This is a big usability upgrade for the Xbox One, which previously forced users to snap the Achievements app to the side of their screen. The extra button press and the loading time were both pretty frustrating.

Xbox Preview Program members can manually trigger the April Xbox One Update from the Settings app. Microsoft hasn’t yet said what is included in the second part of the April Xbox One Update, unfortunately. If Microsoft stays true to form, anyone not in the Xbox Preview Program can expect features from both updates to arrive sometime in April.
