Taking some time away from The en to work on some corporate projects this week also left me with a little free time to barrel through my media watchlist like the Batmobile down a city block. At least, for the weekend you don’t have to imagine what that looks like. Microsoft Free Movie Weekend for Xbox and more is back. This time, the folks in Redmond are dropping big discounts on super-hero related media and letting anyone rent Justice League: Doom free.
Microsoft kicked off Free Movie Weekend earlier this morning. Anyone with a working Microsoft Account in the United States can take advantage of the free movie rental. Justice League: Doom is all about Batman’s contingencies for eliminating every member of the Justice League in case of an emergency. Naturally, that information falls into the wrong hands. (You’d think Bruce would have grown man encryption schemes, but maybe not.)
You can place the rental online, but only those with a device that has a Microsoft Movies & TV app will be able to stream or download it. Such devices include the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Windows phones and any device running Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Some classics from the DC Universe are discounted along with the free rental. They include Batman: The Dark Knight, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Super-Man Batman Apocalypse, Super-Man Shazam, Superman Batman, Green Lantern: First Light, Supergirl, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Gotham, iZombie and Lucifer.
