A new Xbox streaming mode will allow you to enjoy games from your existing Xbox One and games library this coming October.
Microsoft announced the Xbox streaming mode for Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X earlier today, and the concept sounds pretty straight-forward. For years, gamers have been able to connect to their console and play games through what’s now called the Xbox Console Companion. This new mode just allows you to do that, but without having to be at home and connected to the same network. PlayStation does something similar to this with a feature it calls Remote Play.
To be clear, this Xbox streaming is fundamentally different from Project xCloud. That service will let you stream to any device without owning an Xbox. This new thing that Microsoft announced today is only for folks that own an Xbox already.
