You can stop waiting on Mortal Kombat X to arrive for your Xbox 360 gaming console this calendar year. In fact, you can stop waiting on it to arrive period. Late last week video game developer Warner Brothers Interactive confirmed that Mortal Kombat X for the Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3 are both cancelled.
Last Friday a post in the Mortal Kombat X official forums revealed that Warner Brothers Interactive has decided to outright cancel the Xbox 360 version of Mortal Kombat X. “Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standard set by the current-gen versions of the game,” the posting says. when it became clear it wouldn’t be able to meet those standards Warner says it decided to cancel the game. Anyone who pre-ordered a copy of Mortal Kombat X for the Xbox 360 will get a full refund. The company doesn’t elaborate on why or how it let the game get this far into development before realizing it wasn’t technically possible to guarantee a decent experience. Mortal Kombat X has been available on the Xbox One since April.
This is the third major scandal to rock Warner Brothers Interactive this year. Originally, it had to pull the Windows PC version of Batman Arkham Knight after it became clear that bugs should have prevented it from being released in the first place. It also had to refund gamers for the Batmobile Edition pre-orders it had to cancel over quality issues.
