We’ve been wondering how Google was going to combat the recent onslaught of patent lawsuits that have been going their way but we can’t honestly say we saw buying Motorola Mobility as a solution to their problem. Turns out someone at Google did and they’re buying the Android OEM for a nice 12.5 Billion dollars.
From all the talk we’re hearing around here most people think the move is to shore up Android by offering a complete end to end solution for Android just like Apple does with iOS, but so far we aren’t buying that excuse. It’s a patent play, and a damn good way to solve their problem.
We’ll have a follow up editorial tonight along with a good hard look at what this means for Windows Phone, later today. In the meantime what do you guys think?
