While Nintendo leads the other video game console makers in sheer number of devices sold, once you start to look at other factors like ecosystems and integration, the picture becomes much less rosier. As it turns out Nintendo agrees, and is now taking steps to rectify one of the biggest issues with it’s current living room play; the Wii by launching the Nintendo Network.
Featuring things like online play, and downloadable add-on content for games, Nintendo expects to launch their competitor to Xbox LIVE and Playstation Network sometime in 2012 for the Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U. No other specifics on features or pricing were announced.
