Microsoft has announced that current Windows Division chief Steven Sinofsky will be vacating his post immediately.
The announcement, made just after the close of business marks the end of career at Microsoft that stretched all the way back to 1989 and touched nearly the entire breadth of Microsoft’s businesses most notably Office and Windows. His replacement, as of yesterday Julie Larson-Green will run both the hardware and software sides of Microsoft’s Windows business and report directly to CEO Steven Ballmer.
Article updated for clarification. Julie Larson-Green will report to current CEO Steven Ballmer not Steven Sinofsky.
