If you’re one of the millions of users who purchased the $399 Xbox One when it launched this past June, we have some great news. Starting today, The Xbox One’s Kinect 2 sensor is available for sale on its own along with a digital copy of Dance Central Spotlight.
Amazon & the Microsoft Store began selling the Kinect 2 sensor on its own today. That’s the same Kinect 2 sensor that originally launched inside the Xbox One bundle for $499 last November. Hardware-wise this Kinect 2 sensor is exactly the same. With the Kinect 2 sensor Xbox One owners are able to game without a control. This is particularly useful for families who want everyone to get in on the gaming experience, but don’t want to bother with the complications of learning what each of the controller’s buttons actually does.
The Kinect 2 sensor is also used to communicate with television sets, cable boxes and audio equipment. Ironically, users who purchased an Xbox One without a Kinect 2 sensor will end up paying an extra $50 for everything. The standalone Kinect 2 sensor with Dance Central Spotlight costs $149.99.
