We’d like to interrupt your Christmas Eve festivities to bring you this important news. The Interview, a feature-length film starting Seth Rogen and James Franco, isn’t just launching in a few theaters at midnight to spite the group that hacked Sony Pictures. This morning Microsoft confirmed that The Interview is coming to Xbox Video.
To be clear, The Interview hasn’t yet arrived in the Xbox Video Store, but that seems to be the plan. Purchasing the buddy comedy will cost $15 to add to your Xbox Video movie collection permanently. Rent The Interview will cost $6 in Xbox Video. Xbox Video rentals and purchase include streaming and offline viewing; and there are Xbox Video apps for Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the web.
The Interview’s original wide theatrical release was originally cancelled by Sony Pictures after hackers invaded its internal computer systems, leaked internal communications and documents, then threatened violence against theaters who had plans to show the film on Christmas Day. In the film Rogan and Franco are instructed to kill North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
