Halo: The Master Chief Collection buyers can expect the Halo 5: Guardians beta to kick off this morning at 9AM Pacific Standard Time on the Xbox One.
Microsoft revealed details about the Halo 5: Guardians beta late last night and early this morning. This Halo 5: Guardians beta marks the first time any owner of Microsoft’s Xbox One console will be able to play the game. That being said, this week’s content is the same as the maps and modes that Xbox Preview Program users tested about a week ago. Microsoft’s own Halo Twitter account indicates that the beta will start at 9AM. Meanwhile, its Xbox Wire news service indicates that seven different maps and three different games modes will be available during the test run. Microsoft plans to roll out new content to the beta every week.
Besides giving sprinting to every player, Halo 5: Guardians goes back to the drawing board on one major multiplayer concept: Spartan Abilities. They’re weren’t included in the test run that Preview Program members got their hands.
Xbox One owners who are allowed to participate in the beta can expect a pretty hefty download for their console shortly. The Halo 5: Guardians beta wraps on January 18th, and the final game won’t launch until the Fall 2015. It doesn’t appear as if Microsoft has plans on opening up the beta to more than just Master Chief Collection buyers at some point.
