With Halo 5: Guardians finally making its debut on the Xbox One later this year, Microsoft’s 343 Industries is slowly beginning to reveal details about the game. One of the most sordid details revealed is that some members of humanity now believe John 117 is, in fact, a traitor.
John allegedly turning his back on humanity is about the only tidbit to come out of a new teaser website aptly named HuntTheTruth. Last night 343 Industries posted an audio recording from another character possibly being featured in the series, a journalist named Benjamin Giraud. In the posted audio Giraud says that he was there in New Mombassa the day the Master Chief saved humanity. He also says, that in trying to confirm the details of John’s upbringing he’s learned the truth about him. To be clear, 343 Industries has left enough details so ambiguous that we’re still really left wondering what’ll happen in Halo 5: Guardians. Buyers of Halo: The Master Chief Collection got a look at the online multiplayer elements of the game late last December.
Halo 5: Guardians should arrive on store shelves this year. When Microsoft revealed the name of the game it confirmed that Halo 5: Guardians would only come to the Xbox One, skipping the Xbox 360. Microsoft has another reveal on the site scheduled for March 29th.
