In what could very well be a response to the launch of Warner Brothers’ Batman: Arkham Knight partnership with Sony, Microsoft is working with its retail partners to give shoppers a free disc-based copy of any game when they purchase an Xbox One.
Microsoft launched the promotion this week and revealed it to everyone with a post on its Major Nelson blog. Absolutely, anyone who purchases an Xbox One with 500GB of 1TB of storage can get a game of their choice. To be clear, this free game doesn’t have to be an ancient launch title that’s not interesting anymore. In fact, the post mentions Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt by name.
Besides its regular retail partners like Target, Microsoft says shoppers get a free game when they purchase the Xbox One from Amazon and Best Buy too. To be clear, Microsoft already includes free games inside each of its Xbox One console bundles. This deal adds an extra game on top of that.
