There hasn’t been an official new book in the Harry Potter series since 2007. The final Harry Potter movie arrived in theaters five years ago, and the Wizarding World is set to make a return to the big screen with Fantastic Beasts this year. Joining that movie is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the official eighth story, according to its publishers and author J.K. Rowling.
Rowling, Scholastic and Little Brown confirmed Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is officially the eighth book in the Harry Potter franchise this morning, according to Mugglenet. If the name sounds familiar it’s because Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is also a play set to début on July 31st. The book will debut alongside the The Cursed Child play, the publishers and Rowling confirm. A promotional poster for the book reveals that it takes place nineteen years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Physical copies of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will cost $29.99 in the United States and $39.99 in Canada. Pottermore, the site responsible for selling digital versions of the previous books, will offer this new book too in a digital version. There’ll be other versions for those who feel that they need a Collector’s Edition too.
