Dig out that old disc of Halo 5: Guardians and get ready to test out some new mechanics. Microsoft’s 343 Industries is planning to breath new life into the game’s multiplayer experience this summer when it launches the new Warzone Firefight mode. You don’t have to wait until then to get your hands on it though, a Warzone Firefight Beta kicking off tonight lets anyone test the feature.
Microsoft and 343 announced the Halo 5 Warzone Firefight Beta on Xbox Wire a few weeks ago. Warzone Firefight is a new mode for Halo 5 players, but not totally new to Halo in general. Players team up with friends and other random users over Xbox Live to battle waves of deadly enemies. The original version from Halo 3: ODST let two players battle alongside each other in Firefight, but Halo 5 doesn’t allow for split-screen co-operative play in any more.
Warzone Firefight is different from the original version in that it has an engine that comes up with objectives on the fly. Theoretically, players should be able to enjoy the mode for months before they end up with the same objectives again. Warzone Firefight also lets users redeem REQ cards for needed weapons and gear. Up to eight different people can be in the same Warzone Firefight match at a time.
We’ll let you know when the mode is available folks. The Warzone Firefight Beta only lasts until April 18th.
