President’s Day weekend isn’t traditionally known as an excellent time to play games. Yeah, I’m lying, it totally is. Three day weekends are the best time to dive into something good. Microsoft is hoping that you’ll spend most of this upcoming weekend away from the Cable News Network and on Xbox Live. It’s unlocking online multiplayer for the long weekend. It’s also partnering with a few studios to give users something to play with their temporary privileges. Xbox Live Gold Free Weekend is back folks.
Microsoft is lowering the pay wall that lets users game with others over Xbox Live. Typically multiplayer access requires an Xbox Live subscription at $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Any games that you already own and feature multiplayer will let you go online until Monday, February 20th.
But what if you don’t have a video game for Xbox One with multiplayer that you enjoy? The company is giving you free temporary downloads of NBA 2K17 and Rocket League. The latter has won awards for Best Sports Title. If you’re not familiar with NBA 2K17 and its half-dozen different online modes and ways to spend Virtual Currency, now is your chance to check it out.
I’ll be playing both games and finishing Watch Dogs 2 if you’d like to say hello. Gamertag, harlem.
