Spending a little more than a decade on Xbox Live has a way of changing your mind on all sorts of things. There was a time when I would have rolled my eyes at the new Xbox Family Settings app that Microsoft publicly announced earlier today. Not anymore; we could all probably use an app that tells us we’ve looked at a screen way too much for one day at this point.
Microsoft revealed the new app for monitoring the gaming habits of your family today on Xbox Wire, and i’d say the parent in us all should be excited that there’s a new way to monitor and control what kids are doing on their console. Xbox Family Settings is available free for all your screen time limit, content filter, and communication control needs in a limited test that you can sign up for. And, in case you’re worried that your family’s game time is out of control, you can set up activity reports for each Xbox Live profile. The plan is to have the app available to anyone and everyone by the end of the year, it seems.
