Reagent Games’ Crackdown 3 open-world game will launch this November. That sound you hear is every Xbox One owner around the world also exclaiming, “finally!”
Microsoft revealed November 7th as the Crackdown 3 release date at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this week. Its E3 2017 briefing also included a new trailer for the game starring Terry Crews.
We got our first taste of Crackdown 3 at E3 2015. Back then, Microsoft used the game to highlight its Xbox Live Cloud Compute service. The game uses online processing power to render buildings falling apart and tipping over in real-time. Xbox consoles don’t have enough power to simulate all the moving parts a huge destructible city would require without offloading calculations to servers. This same feature powers the Forza franchises’ Drivatar system.
Crackdown 3 has a huge, vibrant city for players and up to three friends to wreak havoc on in the name of catching crime bosses. Every building in the game’s New Providence can be destroyed. Luckily, Microsoft has stopped using the Xbox Live Cloud Compute branding for this kind of server-side processing. It’s referring to it as just Microsoft Cloud. Reagent promises single-player, co-operative play and multiplayer experiences all for $59.99.
Xbox One X fans will get the best visuals. The game is one of four official Xbox One Enhanced titles launching this year. It fully supports 4K televisions with HDR technology, and that’s why it launches on the same day as the new console. It’s an Xbox Play Anywhere title too. Buy a digital copy on Xbox and you unlock a digital copy for your Windows PC.
I’ve waited a long time for Crackdown 3 to launch. November can’t get here fast enough.
