With yesterdays release of Shoot 1UP, Microsoft seems to be officially shifting the branding of all Xbox LIVE titles from “Xbox LIVE” to “Xbox Windows Phone”, possibly marking a shift in how the company see’s the handheld phone games fitting into the Xbox ecosystem.
The change comes on the same day as the company announced Windows Phone 8’s support of the Unity gaming engine, so sue us for getting a little excited. Sure it’s all a little murky and could add up to the same vision we’ve been seeing so far, but to be honest we’re less excited for a continuation of the me-too titles coming from the current program and more excited about the possibility of Microsoft making good on it’s assertions that Windows Phone is their “mobile platform for games”.
