Sony’s PlayStation 4 racked up 1 million units sold this past weekend.

That’s according to Sony itself, who announced the numbers early Saturday morning after the PlayStation 4, its next-generation gaming console and follow-up to the PlayStation 3, launched on Friday at midnight. To be clear, the company’s press release isn’t quoting some ridiculous figure like the amount of units its sold to retail partners.

“Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced that the highly anticipated launch of the PlayStation®4 (PS4™) computer entertainment system resulted in 1 million units sold through during the first 24 hours after it became available on November 15, 2013 in the United States and Canada”

Just because the PlayStation 4 is officially available doesn’t mean users can get their hands on it at their whim. The Xbox One competitor remains sold out in the United States and Canada. Certainly its $399 price tag didn’t hurt these numbers at all. However, reports of hardware and software glitches could have did the console any favors either.
