There is a very good reason why users simply can’t walk into a store and readily pick up Sony’s PlayStation 4 gaming console at their leisure, at least we hope there is. Thanks to its launch in Europe and Latin America the PlayStation 4 has passed 2 million in sales.

Sony announced the updated sales figures in a press release this morning, noting that it actually crossed 2.1 million in sales as of December 1st. The company also noted that it sold 700,000 consoles in Europe and Australasia alone.

Those figures include all of the sales the console has racked up since it debuted in North America on November 15th. For those keeping score, Microsoft has only confirmed that it sold a million Xbox One devices during it’s launch on November 22nd. It initially launched in more countries than the PlayStation 4.
