Microsoft is ringing in the New Year with a new set of free games that are available to users with Xbox Live Gold. Users will be able to download a free copy of Sleeping Dogs beginning January 1st.
Microsoft announced January’s assortment of free games in a blog post at Xbox Wire this afternoon, also noting that users can expect a free download of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light beginning January 16th.
Dubbed, Games With Gold, the monthly promotion rewards Xbox Live Gold subscribers with two free games each month. Usually, the cost of those two free games is more than the monthly cost of an Xbox Live Gold subscription. For example, Buying Sleeping Dogs on Xbox Live would cost users $20 alone. Subscribing to Xbox Live Gold costs users $10 a month or $60 a year.
Unfortunately, Games With Gold is still limited to Xbox 360 users. Microsoft has confirmed that Games With Gold is coming to the Xbox One, however it hasn’t said when the program might actually launch on its newly released console.
