Google’s steadily been moving to infiltrate Apple’s iOS with all of its services and today marks the arrival of another Google-made app in the iTunes App Store. Rejoice folks for now Google Play Video for iOS is available for download.
Starting today, iPhone and iPad users can stream their Google Play Video content from the company’s servers. That’s great news for anyone who invested a great deal in television shows and movies from Play Video but has more than just Android products in their home.
Unfortunately, the news isn’t all good. The app doesn’t store Play Video content. As such, there’s no way to save videos for playback when there isn’t an internet connection to be had. The app also limits streaming to a Wi-Fi connections too. To add insult to injury there isn’t a built-in store either thanks to Apple’s decision to require a cut of all digital goods sold in iOS apps.
