If you were planning to pre-order a physical copy of a game for the Xbox One or Xbox 360 this fall and winter, Microsoft is giving you some new reasons to make the purchase with them.
Announced on Xbox Wire earlier today, Microsoft says that members of its Xbox Live Rewards program will get 1500 in credit that they can use in the Xbox Store when they pre-order any games. That’s in addition to the $10 that Microsoft already gives users in the form of a gift card. Xbox Live Rewards is the program that gifts digital goods and credit to those who play games often and renew their Xbox Live subscription. 1500 in credit translates to $15 in Xbox Store credit.
Xbox Store credit is used to purchase music, movies television shows and more throughout Microsoft’s Xbox ecosystem. In order to take advantage of the deal users need to have an Xbox Live Rewards membership and sign into the Microsoft Store website with the same Microsoft Account. Microsoft says the two deals aren’t stackable, unfortunately.
For Xbox One users Microsoft is also throwing in some free weapons with Sunset Overdrive. Halo: The Master Chief Collection buyers get a “My Other Car is a Warthog” license plate frame, an end-game skill for messing with explosion physics and a window decal.
All told, it’s a pretty decent deal for anyone who is already planning on purchasing a title for the Xbox One or Xbox 360 soon. Of course, you can’t purchase digital games through the Microsoft Store website, so only those who don’t have a problem switching out discs should take advantage of this deal.
