There’s not a lot of consistent action happening on in Xbox Music these days. That is, if you don’t count Microsoft giving away dozens of free albums through the Music Deals app it launched roughly two months ago. Until December 16th Microsoft is giving away more free albums, discounting holiday yuletide classics and heavily discounted the latest album from rapper E-40.
Microsoft updated the Music Deals app with new deals and more earlier this week. E-40’s Sharp on all 4 Corners is now just $.99 despite having come out fairly recently. Joining it in the discount bin are Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas 2 You, Justin Bieber’s Under the Mistletoe, Ariana Grade’s Christmas Kisses for $1.99. Boyz 2 Men’s The Christmas Collection is on sale for $1.99 too because no song says holiday season like Let It Snow.
Since shortly before ending free music streaming, Xbox Music has given away a new set of albums free for users to download for free every week. Provided that they have to the Windows Phone or Windows 8 versions of Xbox Music. That’s the case this week too. Free albums include Babel from Mumford & Sons, Lights from Ellie Goulding. There are tons of them, seriously. May we suggest picking Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreaks? You can never had too much auto tune.
The Music Deals app is only available on Windows Phone and Windows 8 PCs. The iPhone, Android, Xbox One and Xbox 360 clients will stream any music snatched up through the deals but they don’t allow for purchases. Windows and Windows Phone users should think of this as an exclusive perk.
