Bethesda is talking more about its upcoming release, Fallout 4, including details about the game’s setting and some advanced new features.
Bethesda discussed the Fallout 4 during its games showcase just before E3 2015 was set to kick off. Launching later this year, Fallout 4 will feature a new protagonist and survivor of a Boston-area vault who was able to secure his family a place in the shelter just before the nuclear event struck.
Players can completely customize their character with their controller and choose to play as a boy or a girl. A refreshed Pipboy wearable provides all the information players need to know in the game and on a smartphone of their choice in the real world. Bethesda even went so far as to create a smartphone shell for gamers to communicate with Fallout 4 in the real world, provided they are willing to purchase the most expensive version of the game. Bethesda says that its real-time engine allows players to do extras, like build their own shelters within the greater Fallout 4 world. As players build out their settlement others will come to join them. The same system powers a detailed crafting experience.
Bethesda is also creating a dedicated mobile game called Fallout Shelter. It allows players to create their own vaults absolutely free of charge. Fallout Shelter is actually available tonight from the iTunes App Store.
Fallout 4 is coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PCs on.
