With internal Xbox One hard drives filling up fast and Xbox 360 hard drives starting to show their age, what is a gamer to do they simply need more storage? Microsoft is hoping that owners of both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 will pick up the new green, Xbox-branded 2TB Seagate Game Drive fir Xbox.
Announced during last week’s Gamescom 2015 festivities, the 2TB Seagate Game Drive for Xbox 2TB is exactly what you’d expect it to be. Plug it in to your Xbox One console and you can add more movies and games without needing to delete a single thing. Microsoft says that the hard drive will hold up to 50 Xbox One games, but doesn’t elaborate how many Xbox 360 games that equates to. A special USB cable connects the Xbox One or Xbox 360 to the external hard drive. A separate power cord isn’t needed. Amazon has the $99 hard drive available for purchase now.
Functionally, 2TB Seagate Game Drive for Xbox isn’t any different from a standard Seagate USB hard drive. Any hard drive with the right speed and space can be used to house Xbox One and Xbox 360 games. Even flash drives can be used. The key takeaway here is that selling a branded Xbox hard drive means Microsoft doesn’t have to explain to casual shoppers the specifications they should be looking for.
