As shopping savvy, Xbox One owners who are probably more excited about the launch of Halo 5: Guardians than the law should allow, it is our duty to inform you that unless you pre-order your copy by the end of business today on the East Coast, you won’t get it on release day.
The Microsoft Store has spent the entire summer taking Halo 5: Guardians pre-orders, promising users that if they purchase early, they’d get a few choice extras for use in the game and a $10 Xbox Gift Card. All of that comes to an end tomorrow at 10AM Pacific Standard Time. The Microsoft Store’s page for the game indicates that orders placed after then could arrive after the game’s launch on October 27th. Of course, you could just buy the game digitally through the Xbox Store, but then you wouldn’t get the gift card. Plenty of physical retailers will have the game on sale on October 27th too.
Online retailer Amazon is instructing buyers to select two-day shipping when they check out to ensure that Halo 5: Guardians arrives at their doorstep on release day. Halo 5: Guardians is the first major Halo title to arrive exclusively for the Xbox One. The game features a massive battle multiplayer experience called Warzone and seamless four-player co-op.
