This week, there don’t seem to be a whole lot of notable albums that dropped on Xbox Music, but I listened to a few of them. First, let’s start with the notable singles and albums that came out. Within the Xbox Music interface, it’s tough to tell exactly what dropped this week, and what might have come out last week, but I’ll try my best not to mention anything that’s older than a week.
Notable Singles
- Cee Lo Green – Only You (feat. Lauriana Mae)
- Paramore – Now
- Lady Antebellum – Downtown
- 50 Cent – Major Distribution
Notable Albums
I’m not sure what actually came out this week, but if these albums dropped before this week, I must have overlooked them.
- Mumford & Sons – The Road To Red Rocks (Live)
- Eels – Wonderful, Glorious
- Tim McGraw – Two Lanes of Freedom
- Josh Groban – All That Echoes
Other Interesting Albums
- Walk Off The Earth – R.E.V.O. – This album (4-song EP, actually) didn’t do much for me. It seems to tie in nicely to the whole “Phillip Phillips”, “Mumford & Sons” type of vibe, but that’s not really anything I can get into. If you’re a fan of that style of music, you might want to check it out, though.
- Above & Beyond – Anjuna Beats Vol. 7 – This album has a decent vibe, but it’s a little too watered-down for my tastes. It’s got a similar vibe to Deadmau5 and some of Squarehead’s beats, but much less aggressive.
- Red – Release the Panic – This is a decent rock/metal album. It’s not overly heavy or fast, but it’s got a good feel to it. It’s got a sound similar to the heavier rock you hear on the radio, but it also has a little more of an electronic vibe laced throughout. Probably not an album I would rush out to buy, but definitely something I could listen to more than once.
- Grooving in Green – Stranglehold – This is an odd album. The music is far from heavy, almost poppy (in an 80s/90s sense of the word), and, at times, the vocals sound almost like Meat Loaf. However, the album also incorporates a bit of a growl that throws me off while listening to it. In my opinion, this album is kind of a mess that doesn’t seem to meld its musical influences very well.
