Shadow of the Tomb Raider launches this September. If you want something to remember the game by or some in-game extras, you need to know all about the ridiculous amounts of Shadow of the Tomb Raider editions and pre-order extras there are.

This new game in the franchise is your last chance to experience Lara Croft as Crystal Dynamics reimagined her in 2013 with Tomb Raider. That first game showed how Croft became the tough, ready for anything explorer that we know her as. She had her moves down to a science in the second game, Rise of the Tomb Raider. She ventures to Latin America in search of an ancient Mayan artifact in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

The Shadow of the Tomb Raider release date is September 14th, 2018, and that gives you just months to wrap your head around how complicated Shadow of the Tomb Raider editions are. Let’s get started.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Editions

If you thought video game purchases were becoming less complicated, reset your expectations. There are five different Shadow of the Tomb Raider editions coming to store shelves in most countries. Where you buy them is even more confusing. Some are only available at certain stores.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Standard Edition – $59.99

This is the cheapest, most basic version of Shadow of the Tomb Raider that you can buy. Whether you buy it on a disc or from the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, and Steam, it costs $59.99.

GameStop has Shadow of the Tomb Raider Standard Edition for sale.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Limited Steelbook Edition – $59.99

The Limited Steelbook Edition of Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a standard copy of the game in a collectible case with three art cards. Best Buy and GameStop stock this version.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Digital Deluxe Edition – $69.99

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Digital Deluxe Edition includes the game’s soundtrack, an extra skills booster pack, an extra outfit and weapon and access to the game two days before it launches. PS4 owners also get a Tomb Raider theme for their console. PC owners get a special wallpaper instead. Xbox One owners don’t get anything extra, but Shadow of the Tomb Raider is an Xbox One X Enhanced game, so at least it has amazing graphics.

The Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, and Steam sell this version of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and GameStop and Amazon sell digital codes that unlock it. It costs $69.99, $10 more than Standard Edition and Limited Steelbook Edition.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Croft Steelbook Edition – $89.99

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Croft Steelbook Edition comes with three art cards. That’s on top of the 3 extra weapons, 3 extra outfits, the game soundtrack and early access. You also get the Shadow of the Tomb Raider Season Pass when you buy this version. All this comes inside a special edition Steelbook case.

Best Buy, GameStop, and Amazon sell Shadow of the Tomb Raider Croft Steelbook Edition for $89.99.

This is another edition made for the fans. If you want a physical copy of the game and a season pass, consider buying Croft Steelbook Edition for sure.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Digital Croft Edition – $89.99

You can buy this edition of Shadow of the Tomb Raider from GameStop, Amazon, Steam, Microsoft Store and PlayStation Store.

Only buy Digital Croft Edition if you want the game’s season pass. That package of add-on content costs $29.99 on its own.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Ultimate Edition  – $199.99

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Ultimate Edition costs $199.99, the most of any version of the game. If you buy this edition, you get it delivered two days before launch.

The package has a bottle opener made to look like a climbing ax, a replica of Lara’s in-game flashlight and a Lara Croft “Terrifying Tombs” statue. This statue has Lara holding a machete.

There’s plenty of in-game extras included with the Ultimate Edition. It has a code for the season pass that will unlock 7 challenge tombs, 7 weapons, 7 outfits and 7 extra skills after launch. It also has 3 additional weapons, 3 outfits, and the game’s soundtrack. Of course, a copy of the game is included too.

There’s only one place to buy Shadow of the Tomb Raider Ultimate Edition: the Square Enix Store. Only buy this edition if you want something on your shelf to remember the game by.
