Gamers have wanted a sequel to Halo Wars so long that it’s sometimes hard to remember why. Then you get a chance to watch footage of Halo Wars 2 and you remember. Halo Wars 2 is an updated real-time strategy game for Xbox One and Windows.

Captain Cutter and the crew of the Spirit of Fire are back, but this time they’re in the modern day Halo universe. The war between Humanity and The Covenant are over, but a Brute named Atriox isn’t about to let bygones pass.

Halo Wars 2’s story mode will pack 13 different missions in which it’s the player’s job to shut down Atriox and whatever fanatical nonsense he and his recruits are up too. (They’re known as the Banished.) 343 Industries and Creative Assembly are promising all-new units to enjoy in the game’s single player, and multiplayer. Up to six different people can play Skirmish at a time. Also promised are Deathmatch, and Blitz, which uses a mechanic very similar to REQ Cards.

Halo Wars 2 is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. When you but it on one platform, you unlock it on the other. Those that buy the ultimate version of the game get a premastered version of the original Halo Wars.
