Microsoft Working on the Next Generation Zune Device

Recent job postings may hint to the next generation Zune device, or at least a new device coming to the lineup sometime in the next few years.

"A fundamental part of our strategy is having desirable and powerful devices that enable the experiences our consumers want, and elicit their excitement. Creating these devices involves a close partnership between hardware and software engineers, designers, and manufacturing. We are currently building the next generation of portable digital entertainment and Zune needs you!"

I won’t speculate much here as I’m working on a longer editorial this afternoon, but this has wide implications, ladies and gentlemen. Make no mistake.
