Haters of micro-transaction currencies everywhere rejoice, the update to strip the Microsoft Points currency system from the Xbox 360 is now available.

Starting today, anyone in the world who turns on an Xbox 360 will be prompted to download an update to the Xbox 360’s Dashboard. After the update is installed, users will no longer have to convert the amount of money their spending in Microsoft Points to their local currency. Instead, all items in the Games Marketplace and Video Store will feature pricing in local currency.

Those who didn’t have the opportunity to spend any remaining Microsoft Points they had left shouldn’t fret. Microsoft has also converted the amount of points in each users account to local currency as well.
