From now until May 19th, a never-been-played Xbox One S will cost you just $229.99. Get this Xbox One deal while it is hot.
Xbox Wire announced most retailers, including the Microsoft Store, GameStop and Amazon, would discount the Xbox One S by $50 last week. This is instant savings, not a rebate or store credit. The deal lasts until May 19th.
The amount of savings you get from this Xbox One deal depends on the amount of storage you want. Xbox One S bundles with 500GB of storage cost $279.99 normally. That same console is $229.99 during this deal. 500GB Xbox One S bundles come with copies of Forza Horizon 3 and Minecraft.
An Xbox One S 1TB bundle costs $249.99 until this deal ends. There’s a State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and Player Unknown Battlegrounds bundle with this storage capacity. Microsoft also sells a 1TB Starter Bundle that includes three months of Xbox Game Pass, its monthly game subscription service. Game Pass subscribers get access to new Xbox-exclusive games the day that they launch and around 100 other titles.
If you’re still on an Xbox 360 or don’t have an extensive gaming collection, the 500GB Xbox One S is definitely the way to go. Anyone upgrading from an original Xbox One should consider skipping this deal. Xbox One S offers HDR color contrast, 4K video and 4K up-scaling in games. As I talk about in my Xbox One S review, it’s not the leap in graphics and performance that you get with the Xbox One X.
The discounts on the Xbox One S are part of a two-pronged strategy to get us gamers hype before Xbox executives announce new features and games at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Called E3 for short, Microsoft’s briefing at the trade show starts at 1 PM on Sunday, June 10th.
Look for savings again when Microsoft debuts its second Xbox One deal. Beginning May 20th, buying an Xbox One X gets you a $50 gift card to use in the Microsoft Store.
I already own an Xbox One S, but this second deal may be enough to convince me to upgrade.
