Sometime soon, you’ll be able to pay for both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold and save some cash by doing so. Microsoft is calling this new way to get all that Xbox has to offer Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate was the surprise announcement during tonight’s Inside Xbox. That’s the same video stream that Microsoft shared details of the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition and teased its summer Xbox Fanfest event happing at the same time as this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Easily Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a must-buy for anyone that pays for Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. The setup is simple, instead of paying $9.99 a month for each service, Game Pass Ultimate gets you access to everything they offer for just $14.99 a month.
As for exactly when you can expect to get those savings, today’s announcement on Xbox Wire wasn’t very clear. Some members of the Xbox Insider Program are getting invitations to try Xbox Game Pass Ultimate today. That being said, those of us without an invitation will have to wait until the service rolls out to everyone later this year.
Admittedly, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate isn’t for me. I already have Xbox Live Gold and all the games I can possibly play. As such, I’ve decided against subscribing to Game Pass. I will say this though: convincing me to pay $4.99 extra for access to 100 digital games is a far easier chore than convincing me to pay double what I’m paying for Xbox Live Gold today.
